Five Years Ago This Month: March 2016

Five years ago this month...

...I reflected on some news about the Dark Tower movie. I actually did end up seeing this movie (not my idea, long story), and I'm not sure if I ever wrote about it. It was dumb. I'm reasonably certain it won't overtake my mental images of the series, but I haven't attempted a reread to confirm that.

...I looked back at March 2011. It was a cold spring in northern Saskatchewan.

...I was reading The Sunne in Splendour. The counter propaganda to Shakespeare's Richard III. I didn't like this book or the play all that much. The book was way too long.

...I was reading Bad Houses. A graphic novel about hoarding and estate sales that didn't quite work for me.

...I wrote about my favourite books. Specifically, I wrote about my traditional four favourite books after revisiting them. Two of them stayed in the top four (now that I've made some adjustments to 2019's rankings) and two of them were dethroned, despite remaining in my Top 100 overall.

...I was distracted. This was the month I quit my construction job, but I didn't write about it at all.

So distracted that I managed to drop a full 4L
jug of milk on the floor, where the jug
immediately shattered and made a huge mess!
