RECOMMENDSDAY!

As winter comes to the coronaworld, I'm trying out different things to keep me busy. One of those things is a weekly post to share things I think are cool/important/fun/interesting, from books to shows to podcasts and other things in between. -M.R.

I really need to do a full post one of these days about my thoughts on the various new Star Trek shows but today is not that day.

It is, however, Recommendsday, and so I'm going to show my hand a bit by recommending Star Trek: Lower Decks. This is an animated comedy set in the Trek universe, featuring the USS Cerritos, which is a lesser ship in Starfleet. The characters featured are all ensigns, who may or may not be involved in and aware of the action the way the senior officers are.

This show pokes fun at Trek the same way most Trekkies I know poke fun at it: that is with deep affection. I'm not sure it's actually the best place to start if you're unfamiliar with the franchise, but who knows? I just know I can't wait to see more of it.
