Current Distractions, February 2014 Edition

Oh hi, friends!

February has been its usual miserable and busy self. Of course in this part of the world, winter will last another one or two months beyond now, but February is the worst of it, with no glimpse of spring on the horizon except maybe for the lengthening days. What I mean is that it's still cold outside every day and March, I hope, will be a little better.

Here's a small selection of what I've been up to.

Watching

Attack on Titan
My brother recommended that I watch this show, and I burned through it in a few days and loved it. It's not a perfect show by any means, but I thought the animation was a lot of fun and the monster design was nightmare-inducing in a good way. I also enjoyed the fact that the last Asian on Earth is a spectacular soldier effortlessly. Seriously though, I loved the show and I'll be watching the next season as soon as I can.

Star Trek: Voyager
I love Captain Janeway and I don't care who knows. Compared to any season of DS9 and most of TNG, VOY is a mess. I've seen about 1.5 seasons now, plus the odd rerun caught on cable years before now. The show has obvious problems in its execution, but Janeway honestly makes up for a lot of that for me.

Reading

I've been doing a fair bit of reading this month, although I only just finally picked up some more List books from the library last weekend.

The Last Plague
This is a non-fiction book about the 1918 flu which is extremely interesting but also sadly very dry.

Locke and Key: Alpha and Omega
I haven't read this yet but it was released this month and I'm going to buy it soon and do a reread of the whole series. I'm just really excited about it and thought you should know.

Unpacking

Did I mention that I moved? Not sure. There'll still be a post up next month, though.
