Look for Tania Modleski's "Loving with a Vengeance," Rosalind Coward's "Female Desire" (which talks about other stuff, too...), Janice Radway (who actually did a study about what women readers want in a RomNov), and Ien Ang (who is awesome and writes sweet academic stuff about all kinds of mass media/culture)!
